How Does the DIQUAD Analyzer™* work?


The DIQUAD Analyzer* contains a Lanauer Luxel+ dosimeter and a specially packaged Kodak film (each film packet contains two films, D and E-F speed). Selected metal filters and a mesh target provide the test patterns for image quality analysis. The Luxel+ dosimeter is analyzed by Landauer, Inc. and provides raw data from which dose and beam quality information are derived by DIQUAD. Image quality is analyzed by DIQUAD and combined with the does and beam quality information to provide you a comprehensive report covering nine image quality and does measurements.

How does the Analyzer™* determine image sharpness?

The entire film image is digitized at high resolution. The mesh pattern is analyzed and an image sharpness (IS) value from 1 to 10 is assigned based on image processing techniques.


What does the dental technologist need to do with the Analyzer™*?

The dental technologist place the Analyzer™* on a solid surface. The x-ray tube is placed directly of the Analyzer*, and the technologist makes and exposure and processes the two films enclosed in each dental film packet. The dental technologist then places the Analyzers™*, the control dosimeter, processed films, and survey form in an addressed, postage-paid envelope to return to DIQUAD, LLC. and that is all!


Summary Report

DIQUAD digitizes and analyzes the films and combines the image quality, residual sodium thiosulfate (hypo or fixer) measurement, and dosimetry information into a Summary Report. The Summary Report highlights those measurements which do not pass the criteria and provides guidance on how to correct the problem. The criteria is based on a large number of DIQUAD measurements and, typically, represents the 75th percentile of those measurements.
